RISWAT - a unique and flexible sealing system
RISWAT is a unique system that is specifically designed for the water and gas
tight sealing of penetrations, irrespective of whether the openings pass
through walls and ceilings in buildings or through decks and bulkheads on board
ships. RISWAT assures a dependable seal.
The RISWAT system is used to provide water and gas tight seals for transit
openings carrying multiple cables and for ducting pipes that have to be able to
move in all directions. The system is suitable both for cable and pipe transits.
RISWAT is fast and simple to install, and offers a high level of gas and water
tightness. It eliminates for good the necessity for pre-engineering or special
conduit frames.

The basic elements of the RISWAT system are thermoplastic
sleeves and inserts (coloured blue) and DRIFIL compound.
The purpose of the sleeves is to keep the cables spaced
sufficiently apart, while the inserts are used to pack the
open space in the transit and to create a subsurface for
the sealant compound.
DRIFIL compound has a short setting time and bonds tightly
to steel, concrete and synthetic subsurfaces.
Furthermore the compound is permanently flexible, and
therefore minor settlements and movements in the cables/pipes
can be absorbed after setting.

Simple installation
RISWAT protective sleeves are split lengthwise so that they can be simply placed
around cables. The remaining space in the transit opening is packed with RISWAT
inserts.
For pipe transits it is sufficient to pack the open space in the opening with
inserts. Then the transit is completed by finishing with a layer of DRIFIL
compound.
To obtain a transit with optimum water and gas tightness, it is advisable to
finish both sides of the transit with a layer of DRIFIL compound. This two-sided
seal has the added advantage that the transit is totally closed off, so that it
also offers protection against internal corrosion occurring inside the transit.
